Profil:
Prof. Dr. med. Sven Zenker is a physician-scientist and specialist in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine whose research bridges intensive care medicine, mathematical modeling, medical informatics, and digital health. He leads the Applied Mathematical Physiology (AMP) research group in the Dpt. of Anesthesiology and the Applied Medical Informatics (AMI) research group at the Institute for Medical Biometry, Informatics and Epidemiology and serves as Medical Director of the Staff Unit for Medical and Scientific Technology Development and Coordination (MWTek) at University Hospital Bonn. His research focuses on transforming complex clinical data into reliable, patient-specific insights for clinical decision support. Key areas include mechanistic and probabilistic modeling of cardiovascular physiology, parameter and state estimation, uncertainty quantification, and the development of trustworthy, clinically applicable digital patient models.
Complementing this methodological work, he advances interoperable, privacy-preserving research infrastructures, responsible secondary use of health data, and the translation of algorithms into clinical practice.
He leads major collaborative initiatives, including ACRIBiS for improved cardiovascular risk assessment and Bonn's contribution to the IPI project on individualized patient models in intensive care. His work integrates quantitative biomedical science, clinical expertise, and regulatory-aware technology development to advance safe, scalable, and personalized healthcare.
